Changelog
Recent updates and improvements to ScholarCal.
v2.9September 15, 2026
- A guided intro now runs the first time you sign in: it connects your calendars, walks you through uploading a class or work schedule, links Canvas by its calendar feed, and introduces the assistant, meetings, videos, contacts, notes and your task inbox — every step skippable, and replayable anytime from Settings
- Your ScholarCal agent says hello and shows what it can do, and the intro ends with a personal “Join me on ScholarCal” link you can send to friends
- Birthdays are on the calendar: tell ScholarCal yours during the intro and it appears every year, and when you and a contact are connected your birthdays show up on each other’s calendars — you can also write a birthday onto any contact, and turn sharing off whenever you like
- The calendar has room to breathe: your greeting, the month arrows and the view buttons moved into the top bar, giving the grid back the space three stacked rows used to take
- Choose how the calendar moves in Settings → General: keep scrolling months up and down, or swipe side to side between months, weeks and days
- The day’s events sidebar is shown by default and stays where you put it, with a new E shortcut, and the assistant starts tucked away so it no longer covers the calendar — open it whenever you want it
- Backgrounds are yours across ScholarCal: pick a preset or upload your own in the Chrome extension or in Settings, and it follows you to the website, desktop and mobile apps, with a switch to keep the apps plain
- Subscribe to ScholarCal from iCloud: the feed step now shows exactly where to paste your link on iPhone, Mac and Google Calendar
- Chrome extension: the side panel drops the Study tab for a fuller Notes library you can read and page through, adds backgrounds, and keeps failed recording segments so a dropped upload can be retried instead of losing the lecture
- Recording in the extension still asks you to confirm that everyone present has given permission before it starts
- Fixed: moving forward a month from the 31st could skip a month entirely, landing on March 3 instead of February 28
v2.8September 4, 2026
- Recordings keep running when you leave the Meetings page — check your calendar or take notes mid-lecture and a floating indicator keeps the timer, live levels and a stop button with you
- The Mac app records audio again: it had been capturing silence because it was missing the macOS entitlement for microphone access
- Meetings now become notes. The full summary — key concepts, decisions, risks, recommendations and action items — lands in a real, editable document with rendered maths and tickable action items
- The note opens the moment recording starts, so you can type or sketch during the meeting and the summary arrives underneath what you wrote
- Every note has a Draw tab for handwriting and diagrams, and you can import a PDF worksheet to annotate directly on its pages — the original file is never changed
- Notes can be saved as PDF, Markdown or plain text
- Subscribed Canvas and iCal feeds now refresh on their own every 30 minutes instead of only when you press sync
- YouTube and playlist summaries moved to their own Videos tab, and the Meetings page is now just meetings
- Formulas render properly throughout — in summaries, in notes and in live meeting Q&A — instead of appearing as raw LaTeX
- Error messages appear again: a long-standing bug meant most of the app’s warnings and failures were being discarded before they reached the screen
v2.7July 27, 2026
- ScholarCal now has a generated agent-orbit identity that preserves the original animated sweep while adding an emerging AI visor across web, PWA, app stores, mobile splash screens, notifications, and desktop
- Marketing keeps its midnight-and-white foundation while adding a blue-to-purple identity, restrained gold conversion accents, clearer glass surfaces, and an alternating footer statement
- Product messaging now folds conflict checking into the AI assistant and reliable sync into unified calendar ingestion, with a cleaner, centered audience layout
- Calendly-aware scheduling checks connected busy times before a proposed schedule is confirmed, including planning windows longer than seven days
- Calendly availability now fails closed on connection, token, persistence, rate-limit, or API errors instead of accidentally treating the user as free
- Assistant conflict messages identify Calendly bookings without exposing booking titles or customer details
- Integration Settings explains the shared-calendar “Check for conflicts” setup and offers Reconnect when Calendly authorization expires
- Canvas assignments now become plannable tasks with confirmable study-block proposals rather than due-date markers alone
- Mobile Contacts now brings connection requests, calendar invitations, and agent-to-agent scheduling messages together with push-notification deep links
- A new copy-and-paste ScholarCal skill setup on the home page and /scholarcal makes it clear how to connect Codex, Claude, ChatGPT, or another agent with scoped access
- macOS downloads are now a signed, notarized universal build accepted by Apple Gatekeeper on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs
v2.6July 26, 2026
- New: The ScholarCal World at /world — a scroll-driven cinematic fly-through of how paired agents negotiate your meetings without either side seeing the other’s calendar
- New: ScholarCal for Business at /enterprise — book a 30-minute call on real openings, scheduled by ScholarCal’s own availability engine rather than an embedded third-party widget
- Enterprise plans are now priced separately from individual plans, including forking and tuning ScholarCal into a private, branded scheduling agent for your team
- Pricing page generalized beyond coursework — ScholarCal is for anyone who runs a week, not only students
- Four-step setup guide added, walking through connecting calendars, pairing your agent, asking for what you need, and letting it run
- Enterprise booking never exposes calendar contents: only whether a slot is free, matching the same privacy boundary the agent-to-agent layer uses
