Terms of Service

Last updated: July 15, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ScholarCal ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Account Registration

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or systems
  • Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service without permission
  • Send spam or unsolicited messages through the Service
  • Interfere with the availability or performance of the Service

4. Subscriptions and Billing

ScholarCal offers Free, Pro, and Max plans. Paid plans renew monthly or annually, depending on the option shown at checkout, until canceled. Web, browser-extension, and directly distributed desktop purchases are processed by Stripe. Purchases made inside an App Store version are processed through Apple StoreKit. Both purchase channels unlock the same logical ScholarCal plan for the signed-in account; you should not purchase the same plan twice.

Some features use weekly allowances, including new notes, recorded meetings, transcription minutes, and model-backed AI scheduling requests. Allowances reset each Monday at 00:00 UTC and do not roll over. Reading, exporting, and editing content you already created remains available when an allowance is exhausted or a paid plan ends. Current limits and prices are displayed on the Pricing page and at any in-product upgrade prompt.

You may cancel at any time. Stripe subscriptions remain active through the paid period and can be managed in ScholarCal Billing settings. App Store subscriptions are managed through your Apple account. Canceling a subscription downgrades the account rather than deleting its data; account data remains until you delete the account under Settings or retention is otherwise required by law.

Except where required by law, completed Stripe billing periods are non-refundable. Contact xynprize@gmail.com if you believe a charge was made in error. Apple controls refunds for App Store purchases under Apple's refund process. Prices may exclude taxes that the applicable payment provider is required to collect.

5. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of all data you input into the Service. ScholarCal retains ownership of the Service, its code, design, and documentation.

6. SMS Messaging Terms

ScholarCal operates an optional SMS reminder program, “ScholarCal Calendar Reminders.” Full program details are on our SMS Reminders page.

  • Consent. SMS is off by default. You opt in inside the product by entering your own mobile number in Settings → Notifications, ticking the consent checkbox, and entering a six-digit verification code sent to that number. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services, and is never bundled with account signup or with acceptance of these Terms.
  • What we send. Recurring automated reminders about your own calendar items: events, assignments, deadlines, study blocks, appointments, and shared-calendar invitations. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.
  • Message frequency. Message frequency varies and depends on your own calendar and reminder settings.
  • Cost. ScholarCal does not charge for SMS reminders. Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier.
  • Opt out. Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. You will receive one confirmation message and nothing further. You may also remove your number in Settings → Notifications. Reply START to resubscribe.
  • Help. Reply HELP to any message, or email hello@scholarcal.com.
  • Carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is subject to effective transmission by your carrier and is not guaranteed.
  • Privacy. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy Policy.

7. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. ScholarCal shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through Settings. Deleting a ScholarCal account does not itself cancel billing managed by Apple; cancel an active App Store subscription through Apple before deleting the account.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
